Ok, you’re pregnant. Now what?
Well, the next step is entirely up to you! You have 3 options:
- Parent the baby
Parenting – Should you decide to parent the baby, the DPTHC will be right there with you throughout your pregnancy and for the first year (as long as you’ll have us!) to offer support through parenting and childbirth classes, assistance with material items for you and the baby as well as assistance in connecting you with resources to ensure a safe and healthy pregnancy and delivery. Because you are not alone in this, we offer special programming for the expectant father. Dads have different needs and concerns–we’re here to support daddies too!
Adoption – Maybe you would like to explore adoption, but are worried about the process. The adoption process has changed dramatically over the past decades and now both birth and adoptive parents have more options. You and the adoptive parents can now discuss the adoption plan together. You can even have an arrangement to see the baby as much or as little as you like. The DPTHC can connect you with an credible and reliable adoption agency who will have your, and your baby’s, best interest at heart.
Abortion – Should you decide that there is just no way to carry or keep your baby, remember the DPTHC does not perform, nor refer for abortion. However, we can enlighten you on abortion methods and the side effects you may experience, should you decide this option. For more information on abortion methods, click here.
